IFC Midnight Debuting Occult Thriller WELCOME TO MERCY At Screamfest And Brooklyn Horror Film Festival
The IFC Midnight division has really brought a lot to the table in their small tenure, including dark fairytale Wildling and lo-fi witch horror Pyewacket (which is a sleeper hit for the year), and it looks they don’t have any plans on pumping the brakes any time soon.
Debuting next week, on the same day no less, at Screamfest in Los Angeles and at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival, is Welcome to Mercy. Oh boy, this looks pretty intense. Religious horror is definitely one of the most explored subgenres in horror but you know what? It never fails to creep me the eff out. Check out the poster and trailer below and look forward to Welcome to Mercy hitting VOD and select theaters November 2nd of this year.
A young woman struggles against the unholy forces that possess her in this terrifying occult thriller. After being stricken with stigmata, single mother Madaline (Kristen Ruhlin) is sent to a remote convent where nothing is what it seems and her friend August (Lily Newmark) is seemingly the only person she can trust. Together, they must confront the demons inside Madaline before she becomes the Antichrist.
