Stephen King's CASTLE ROCK Trailer Drops
For many horror fans my age, once we finished with R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike's brand of spooky mysticism, we naturally graduated to the grand daddy of them all: Stephen King. As a new King stalwart though I was initially unaware of his carefully woven, interconnected universe outside of the reappearing character of Randall Flag (Or Walter O'Dim, The Walking Dude, or any number of the laundry list of names). Of course, as I grew older and read more of King's work I became aware of the reoccurring themes and locations like Jerusalems Lot, Derry, and of course: Castle Rock. And now for the first time ever, Hulu is taking a chance and expanding on Kings established multiverse with a brand new tale set within Castle Rock's city limits, and they just dropped a new trailer for it!
Now we don't have much to go off of here, so the trailer doesn't illuminate the larger story that we are sure to see in Castle Rock but it does give us a taste of what may be going on. The show is set to follow Andre Holland (Moonlight), who has been called by an unknown person to Castle Rock after the suspicious suicide of an inmate at Shawshank State Penitentiary. Clearly though, waaaaay more spooky stuff is going on because Castle Rock clearly digs on masks. (Check out the spoopy gathering of masked kiddos around :15, and another with a hammer around :21). Also heavily featured is Melanie Lynskey (Heavenly Creatures), Sissy Spacek (Carrie), Bill Skarsgard (IT), and Terry O'Quinn (The Stepfather, Lost).
While we don't have an exact date just yet, the release date is looming looking towards a summer release. Let the Return of The King continue!
