IFC Midnight Premieres THE WILDLING Trailer
IFC Midnight, the subdivision dedicated to fringe films of the spooky or weird flavor, has released a trailer for Fritz Bohm's Wildling.
The official synopsis is as follows:
"WILDLING is a dark fantasy tale centered on young Anna (BEL POWLEY) who spends her entire childhood in a single room under the care of a mysterious man she only knows as "Daddy" (BRAD DOURIF). He makes her fear the "Outside" by telling her of the "Wildling". At age 16, Anna is freed by small-town sheriff Ellen Cooper (LIV TYLER) with whom she finds a temporary home. For the first time in her life, Anna experiences the Outside, soon learning there's no such thing as the Wildling. But as she begins to flourish as a young woman, a series of unsettling events unfolds..."
The movie definitely looks interesting and also has a pretty knockout cast to go along with it. Brad Dourif is always fantastic and Liv Tyler has definitely held her own in other horror flicks, a la The Strangers. It's a fun trend that we've been seeing because of the recent success of dark fantasy tales such as Before I Wake and The Shape of Water, and Wildling seems to be looking at following that trend but looking instead at the maturation of women.
Keep your eyes open for a review soon! The Wilding drops onto VOD April 13th, 2018 with a later theatrical expansion a week later on April 20th.
