SHARP OBJECTS brings more low-key horror to HBO

While it´s not being promoted as horror and the majority of people probably won´t see it as it, Sharp Objects definitely looks dark and eerie enough to be appreciated by fans of the genre. HBO dropped the first -- amazing and haunting -- trailer for the limited series during the season two premiere of Westworld last night, and parts of it DO look like straight up horror; the one of the more mindfucking kind. Check it out for yourselves and have this in mind: horror is subjective!

Sharp Objects stars Amy Adams (Nocturnal Animals, Arrival) as Camille, a crime reporter fresh out of a psych hospital for her years of self-harm, who returns to her hometown of Wind Gap, Mo., to investigate the murders of two little girls. The assignment lands her back in her childhood home under the critical eye of picture-perfect small-town socialite Adora, which forces her to confront personal demons.

The Blumhouse and Entertainment One produced series -- which is based on Gillian Flynn´s (Gone Girl, Dark Places) novel of the same name -- was written by creator and showrunner Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and Jean-Marc Vallée (Big Little Lies) directed all eight episodes.

Noxon, Flynn, Vallée and Adams executive produce with Blumhouse Productions’ Jason Blum, Charles Layton and Jessica Rhoades as well as Vallée’s producing partner Nathan Ross.

The main cast also includes Patricia Clarkson (The Woods, Dogville), Eliza Scanlen (Home and Away), Elizabeth Perkins (Ghostbusters 2016), Madison Davenport (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series), Chris Messina (Ruby Sparks, Devil), Matt Craven (Devil, Happy Birthday to Me) and Taylor John Smith (Martyrs, Insidious: Chapter 3).

Sharp Objects holds its world premiere during the opening night screening at the annual ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas on June 7, and is set to premiere on HBO in July.
