BLACKkKLANSMAN First Trailer Debuts!

There's a scene at the end of the debut trailer for Spike Lee's new joint BLACKkKlansman (produced by Get Out's Jordan Peele and Jason Blum) where Ku Klux Klan Grand Dragon David Duke, played by ex-symbiote Topher Grace, raises a glass with his fellow Klansmen and chants "America First!" before an older black man bemoans that "If I would have known this was a Klan meeting, I wouldn't have taken this mother-" before it cuts away to the release date, August 10th.

While this film may not be your stereotypical horror film the scene should give you goosebumps. Lee, never known to shy away from provocation of discrimination, draws our parallels to the current presidential administration with a big red sharpie. So much so that you wouldn't be wrong if you thought that it was TOO on the nose.

But this Spike Lee joint is, in his own words, "based upon some fo' real, fo' real shit!". And one of that fo' real shit is the fact that Donald Trump has run on an "America First!" slogan, which he may or may not have borrowed directly from the real world David Duke when he was running for the senate only two years ago.

As my father always said: "What do you get when ten people attend a Nazi rally? Ten Nazis."

Check out the first trailer for Spike Lee's true-to-life social thriller BLACKkKLANSMAN this August!
