MANDY Trailer Is Not Fucking Around!

Not a lot of people have faith in Nic Cage. All they see is the broad brush strokes that he paints with, the wild antics, the voices and faces, and above all else: the choices he makes. The actor may be the living embodiment of the phrase "One mans trash is another mans treasure.".

The problem for me though is I've never heard a legitimate reason why someone doesn't like Nic Cage. They may not like the movie he is in, like hilarious dumpster fire The Wicker Man or any number of the Taken rip-off's that he has been in (Stolen! Rage! Vengeance!), but when it comes to critiquing the actual performance the complaints begin to lose their weight. I think ultimately this can be traced back to audiences general misunderstanding of what goes into preparing and performing a role, and how unique methodologies like Cages can create powerful engaging performances. But more-so, I think it's a feeding frenzy. People get off on their rage for the Cage. People want to dislike him. And to those people I'll just say this:

Grow up and watch the Mandy trailer.

"Pacific Northwest. 1983 AD. Outsiders Red Miller and Mandy Bloom lead a loving and peaceful existence. When their pine-scented haven is savagely destroyed by a cult led by the sadistic Jeremiah Sand, Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire."

From director Panos Cosmatos, director of Beyond The Black Rainbow, Mandy arrives in theatres September 14th!
