If You Gotta See It, Then Here's The HEREDITARY Trailer
After being hailed by the critics as “the most traumatically terrifying horror movie in ages” or as the “most insane horror movie in years” after its Sundance screening, and with a great company like A24 behind it, the first hype train of 2018 was in motion. And with the first trailer -- which I have to admit looks fucking amazing -- that dropped today, I don't see it slow down anytime soon. I know; it's hard not to get excited. We're only human, right? But, I think that we should take Ghastly Grinning's own Jacob Trussell's advice and pump the brakes on Hereditary. Just a little at least; to try to avoid being disappointed. Because we've seen this before; film premieres at festival, critics hype the shit out of film, people getting pissed off when film isn't “the scariest movie ever made!”. I mean, how can ANY movie live up to that? It's near impossible.
With that said, check out the trailer below.
The Graham family starts to unravel following the death of their reclusive grandmother. Even after she's gone, the matriarch still casts a dark shadow over the family, especially her loner teenage granddaughter, Charlie, whom she always had an unusual fascination with. As an overwhelming terror takes over their household, their peaceful existence is ripped apart, forcing their mother to explore a darker realm in order to escape the unfortunate fate they've inherited.
Hereditary is written and directed by Ari Aster -- who makes his feature debut with this -- and it stars Toni Collette (Krampus), Ann Dowd (The Handmaid´s Tale), Gabriel Byrne (End of Days), Alex Wolff (My Friend Dahmer) and newcomer Zachary Arthur.
Even if Hereditary won't end up being “pants-wettingly scary”, we still might end up with a really good and -- hopefully -- creepy film, because in A24 we trust! And honestly, do we really want to wet our pants??
