The UNSOLVED MYSTERIES Reboot You Didn't Ask For

I blame a lot of my obsessions with the strange and paranormal with the short lived docu-series Sightings. Host Tim White navigated me through a world of EVP's, spirit photography, past life regression, alien abductions, Bigfoot, Nessie, you name it Sightings had it. It was like an audio/visual version of those Time Life books on the paranormal that your Middle School library always tended to have. But if 90s kids had Sightings, then 80s kids had Unsolved Mysteries.

What started off as a series of TV specials with Raymond Burr and Karl Malden, it became a syndicated TV series with Robert Stack on NBC in 1987.  The show had less cryptid madness, but all the hallmarks of the future paranormal shows like Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction. And people want more, especially in the churning 80s nostalgia machine that is 2018.

But we weren't expecting this.

This weeks episode of Derek Waters hit comedy, Drunk History, is turning spooky with Drunk Mystery. Seriously. The trailer is playing before most shows that are streaming now on the Comedy Central app, but is...mysteriously missing from the internet.

Agatha Christie's disappearance is investigated, along with the anonymous letter writer who terrorized the town of Circleville, and the mastermind behind America's only unsolved airplane hijacking.

From the trailer we know Derek Waters is stepping in to the Robert Stack role with Taran Killam playing DB Cooper, the airplane hijacking mystery in the synopsis. Vanessa Bayer (SNL) and Kirsten Dunst (Small Soldiers, Drop Dead Gorgeous) are also listed on the IMDB page for the episode.

Check out Drunk Mystery on Comedy Central March 6th at 10E/9C!
