PENNYWISE Documentary Chronicling King's IT (1990) Coming Soon!

It has almost been 30 years since Tim Curry´s Pennywise was unleashed upon us and became the poster child for kindertrauma for a whole generation of kids -- and their parents as well, for that matter -- which resulted in coulrophopia spreading like the fucking T-virus. Even until this day, the majority of my friends and family are afraid of clowns or find them to be extremely creepy. My wife can´t even look at one without it making her skin crawl. And it´s all because of the TV adaptation of Stephen King´s It.

But even though it scarred us for life, it seems as the mini-series still holds a big place in our hearts. And with reports of -- what media dubbed -- “killer clowns” roaming the streets in pretty much every city all over the world and with last years adaptation of King´s book making a TON of money on the box office, what could be more perfect than a documentary on the series?
The filmmakers behind You’re so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night and RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop are now bringing us Pennywise: The Story of It

Pennywise: The Story of IT’ is a feature length documentary from the makers of ‘RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop’ and ‘You’re so cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night’. Featuring over 40 interviews with the cast and crew (including Tim Curry) of Tommy Lee Wallace’s 1990 TV classic ‘Stephen King’s IT’ this documentary will explore the legacy of the show as well as the cultural impact that Pennywise has had on a generation of fans. With hours of never-before-seen behind the scenes footage and exclusive photos ‘Pennywise’ will be the ultimate celebration of this much loved classic and will also be a lasting tribute to the remarkable work of the one of cinema’s greatest character actors Mr. Tim Curry.”

The project -- which kicked off as a IndieGogo campaign last year -- is directed by Chris Griffiths (RoboDoc, You´re so cool, Brewster!) and produced by Cult Screening UK Ltd and Dead Mouse Productions Ltd, who will release it on Blu-ray and DVD sometime this year.
