STARRY EYES Duo May Have Found Their PET SEMATARY Lead!

Director duo Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch might have found their Louis Creed. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Mudbound) is in negotiations to star in Paramounts upcoming adaptation of Stephen King´s novel, Pet Sematary, which is set to open in theaters April 19 , 2019.

Widmyer and Kolsch directs the film from a script by Jeff Buhler (The Midnight Meat Train, SYFY's Nightflyers) and is being produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Constantine), Mark Vahradian (Deepwater Horizon), and Steven Schneider (Paranormal Activity, The Bay).

“When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic and rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Yet despite Ludlow’s tranquility, there’s an undercurrent of danger that exists here. Those trucks on the road outside the Creed’s beautiful old home travel by just a little too quickly, for one thing…as is evidenced by the makeshift pet cemetery out back in the nearby woods. Then there are the warnings to Louis both real and from the depths of his nightmares that he should not venture beyond the borders of this little graveyard. A blood-chilling truth is hidden there—one more terrifying than death itself, and hideously more powerful. An ominous fate befalls anyone who dares tamper with this forbidden place, as Louis is about to discover for himself…”

There isn´t much information on Pet Sematary available at this moment and Clarke is the only actor that has been tied to the project so far. But judging by the directors previous feature, Starry Eyes -- which I HIGHLY recommend -- , I have a hard time to keep my excitement in check. I am extremely stoked to see what they cook up!

Keep an eye (or two) on Ghastly Grinning for future updates on this film.
