THE IMPORTANCE OF BLOOD Bursts From The Blood List
A few months ago we told you about Circle of Confusion´s collaboration with Lightning Entertainment and Hindsight Media and the suspense/thriller genre slate deal they had made, with the purpose to produce new genre films -- starting with Richard Bates Jr.´s upcoming Tone-Deaf (which you can read about here). In a next step -- which might make them THE production company to keep an eye on for genre geeks -- they have teamed up with Sculptor Media to bring The Importance of Blood to life. The film is based on James Breen´s screenplay which ended up on 2012´s Blood List -- the genre film equivalent to the Black List.
The Importance of Blood is about a mysterious young woman named Rose who returns to her hometown years after disappearing to seek reconciliation with her estranged family. In doing so, she threatens her relationship with a caring but manipulative man who harbors dangerous secrets of his own.
Circle of Confusion’s Lawrence Mattis and Matt Smith are producing with Sculptor Media founders Warren Goz and Eric Gold, and Chris Armogida. Jamie M. Daggo -- who is fresh of his neo-noir Sweet Virginia -- will direct the film.
Goz and Gold said this about the project: “Blood is the kind of film Sculptor was established to finance and produce, projects that emphasize compelling stories as told by talented creatives. We’re really thrilled to have Jamie on board. His gift for crafting performance-driven stories and his passionate and disciplined approach to filmmaking makes him an ideal choice for this chilling tale.”
James Masciello, principal of the private equity firm Raven Capital which provides financing to Sculptor, will serve as executive produce and Gerard DiNardi is the line producer.
No actors have been tied to the project as of yet, but casting is underway.
