I am not one that usually gets suckered into getting special or collector’s editions of video games. They tend to include items that I don’t have any vested interest in or, on a purely economic level, are out of my acceptable price range to spend on a video game product. Even Resident Evil, the series that I love and adore above all, failed to convince me to invest in their $170 collector’s edition of Resident Evil 7 back in 2017. It came with a model recreation of the Baker house (complete with music), a mannequin finger USB and other assorted goodies. I had it reserved at my local GameStop all the way up to three weeks before release, then got the cold money shoulder and moved my money to the more moderately priced deluxe edition. This time, however, I wasn’t going to let a piece of Resident Evil history get by me. When they announced a collector’s edition of RE2 remake, which includes a Leon statue, a 32 page art book and map/blueprint recreation of the Raccoon City Police Department, among other add-on items, I knew in my heart this was the one that would break my collector’s edition cherry. This moment wouldn’t be complete without a release day unboxing video, so I slapped my camera on my kitchen table and pressed record. Check out the goodies that are within this box, and look out for my review of Claire’s play through very soon. The survival horror has finally returned.

(Correction – I made mention in the video that I got the Leon cover for the Deluxe Edition and alluded to the idea that it’s a 50/50 chance on who you get for the cover…wrong. Claire is on the reversible side.)
