Facing the Inevitability of Death in Beautifully Drawn COFFIN BOUND
It’s great to see genres collide and it happens more frequently inside the realm of horror than perhaps anywhere else. It doesn’t end on the movie screen either, as horror shows, novels and comics are just as apt to flex into some other territory. That’s exactly what writer Dan Watters and up-and-comer artist Dani are doing with Coffin Bound, a new comic from Image that looks to blend frantic bullet-ridden road movies of the drive-in era with some gritty horror. Check out the preview for Coffin Bound below and be sure to pick it up when it comes digitally and to brick and mortar near you in August.
Dan Watters (Sandman Universe: Lucifer, Limbo) teams with artist Dani (2000AD, Girl with No Name) for an all-new action series full of grindhouse nightmares and high-octane chills in Coffin Bound. The ongoing series will launch from Image Comics this August.
Chased by an unstoppable killer, Izzy Tyburn has decided that if the world won’t have her in it, it can have nothing of her at all. She’s retreading her life, leaving nothing but burned rubber, ash… and the sun-scorched bones of those who get in her way.
"This is a book all about the inevitability of death, and the choice each of us faces between coming to terms with it, or trying to deny it,” said Watters. “This is a book drawn beautifully by Dani, with Brad Simpsons' filthy bright colors. This is a book about cars, guns, and sex—and how each of those things does little to stave off the bottomless void waiting just beyond the veil of our known existence. What was the question again?"
Readers won’t want to miss joining in on this road trip through a blood-splattered life.
